Episode 43 - Sweet November (2001)

Things are getting emotional this week by special request, as Cooper and Nolan spend some time with SWEET NOVEMBER.  

Hated by critics, loved by fans (at least according to Rotten Tomatoes), this movie is basically a metaphor for Keanu Reeves' entire career. But will his unique charisma and... let's say "interesting" choices be enough to win the guys over?  

The answer may surprise you, especially after sitting through a truly insane ad pitch, Keanu Reeves singing (!), and a tearjerker ending you can see coming a mile away.

Better get the tissues ready; this episode (featuring a beer from 5 Paddles Brewing Company) is one that you won't want to say goodbye to.

Episode 42 - Batman & Robin (1997)

Cooper and Nolan are turning on the bad signal this week for the movie that almost killed DC's greatest franchise once and for all - BATMAN & ROBIN!

Glow in the dark Batmobiles, never-before-mentioned characters, anatomically correct Batsuits... with all of the bad decisions that went into this one it's no wonder the guys spend most of the episode playing games like:
-F Marry Kill
-Who Acted it Worse?
-Movie Faceoff (aka "What would you rather watch than this?")
All while trying to deal with some of the cringiest dialogue you'll ever hear!

Better suit up; unlike that time George Clooney got offered the role of Batman, this episode (featuring a beer from Willibald Farm Distillery & Brewery) is one you won't regret saying yes to.

Episode 41 - Friday the 13th Part III (1982)

Cooper and Nolan are celebrating Halloween a few days early this year with FRIDAY THE 13TH PART III! It's the first appearance of Jason in his iconic hockey mask, and also the first appearance of the THIRD DIMENSION!

That's right, thanks to the magic of 3D the terror is practically jumping off the screen, and the guys are making their own magic by taking a drink everytime there's a gratuitous 3D shot. (Spoiler alert: There are LOTS)

It's an episode full of mismatched friends, poor decisions, and potential genitalia nicknames (the yo-yo, anyone?). And thanks to the fine folks at Orange Snail Brewers, it also features what might be the best beer pairing ever.  

Time to face your fears; this special Halloween episode is one you won't want to run from.

Episode 40 - Blame it on Rio (1984)

Cooper and Nolan are beach bound this week for what might be their most uncomfortable episode ever. But don't blame them... BLAME IT ON RIO!

It's a controversial comedy that left the guys with more questions than answers. How did this get made? Who thought it was a good idea? And most importantly, will this movie finally disprove Cooper's theory that there are no 80s pervs?

There's only one way to find out, but be careful - this episode (featuring a beer from Beaches Brewing Co.) might make you want to bury your head in the sand.

Episode 39 - Happy Birthday to Me (1981)

Cooper and Nolan are celebrating another trip around the sun this week with HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!  

What should be a fairly straightforward 80s slasher goes so far over the top with red herrings and surprise reveals that the guys are STILL arguing over who the real killer is, but there's lots to enjoy, from classic teenage shenanigans like bridge chicken and underwear theft to slightly stranger pursuits like experimental brain surgery and faking your own death. Not to mention what might be (according to Nolan) the greatest death scene in the history of film - not bad for a low budget Canadian production!

Get ready to blow out your candles; this episode features a special beer from Merit Brewing, AND a podcast-themed gift exchange you won't want to miss.

Episode 38 - Die Another Day (2002)

Cooper and Nolan might have survived Moonraker last season, but now they're going down together with DIE ANOTHER DAY! 

As soon as they heard the theme song they knew they were in trouble, but it wasn't supposed to be this way! The 20th James Bond film (and Pierce Brosnan's farewell to the role) was meant to celebrate Bond's past and usher in a new era of action and equality. Turns out the only new thing we got were stunts so unrealistic that they had to use a floppy CG Bond to pull them off.

All of this means that the guys will have to deal with the same old tropes, laughable character motivation, and gratuitous sexual innuendo that you'd expect. But maybe with some help from New Ritual Brewing they'll have the courage to LIVE another day, even after an unnecessary Madonna cameo. 

Episode 37 - The Jazz Singer (1980)

This week the guys are saying hello again to terrible remakes with the 1980 version of THE JAZZ SINGER!  

Cooper loves Neil Diamond, but will it be love on the rocks when he has to watch him act? Has Nolan finally met a montage he didn't like? And what on earth is Sir Laurence Olivier doing in this movie? (Answer: A HORRENDOUS accent)

And don't forget about THAT SCENE, which is as ridiculous as it is offensive.

Throw on your best sequined shirt; this episode (featuring a beer from Bicycle Craft Brewing) shows why even though diamonds may be forever, acting careers aren't.

Episode 36 - Flash Gordon (1980)

There's a bad moon rising on the podcast this week, and Cooper and Nolan know there's only one man who can stop it - FLASH GORDON! 

It's the guys' first audience request of Season 2, and it's also a movie that (nearly) changed the course of cinematic history. 

And as you'd expect from a film produced by Dino De Laurentiis, there's a boatload of absolutely insane characters, costumes, fight scenes and "special" effects.

Better grab your power ring: this episode features a collaboration between Third Moon Brewing and Badlands Brewing Co., and might be our most bleeped episode ever.  Not too bad!

Episode 35 - The Exterminator (1980)

It's a two-man war on movie crime this week as Cooper and Nolan tangle with THE EXTERMINATOR!

If the guys want to survive a movie that Roger Ebert once called "a sadistic exercise in moronic violence," they'll have to deal with unnecessary padding scenes, extremely questionable performances ("Ya want the sheets???"), and a plot with more holes in it than the Exterminator's victims.

Don't fear the flashback; this episode (featuring a beer from the Forked River Brewing Company) will push you juuuuuust far enough.

Episode 34 - Back to the Future Part II (1989)

Cooper and Nolan are back, and they're kicking off Season 2 with the episode that YOU voted for - BACK TO THE FUTURE PART II! 

Many people (including Nolan) have fond memories of this movie, but will that change when the guys go back in time to re-experience it? 

That's just one of the many questions being answered this week, along with whether the future we live in is a disappointment, what happened to Crispin Glover, and - perhaps most importantly - who wins the Jennifer face-off? (We know who has Cooper's vote)
